Benguet Gen. Hospital sends off 11 COVID-19 recovered patients

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet, June 26(PIA) – Eleven patients who recovered from COVID-19 were sent home from the Benguet General Hospital (BeGH) on Thursday. BeGH personnel led by Chief of Hospital Dr. Meliarazon Dulay together with Benguet Governor Melchor Diclas, La Trinidad Mayor Romeo Salda and Mankayan Mayor Frenzel Ayong held a send-off ceremony for the 11 newly recovered COVID-19 patients.
The newly recovered patients from the municipalities of La Trinidad, Mankayan, Itogon, Tuba, Sablan, Buguias, Bokod and Bakun. include four police officers, a fire fighter, two health workers, a barangay tanod, a municipal driver, a vegetable truck driver and a farmer.
Most of them tested positive following the expanded mass testing conducted among frontliners region-wide. During the ceremonial send off, the hospital staff distributed to each of the patients a fruit-bearing tree seedling and flowering plant which they will plant to remind them of their recovery from the dreaded disease.
The Benguet Congressional District staff of ACT-CIS Partrylist and Benguet Caretaker Eric Go Yap also distributed relief packs to each of the patients.
Dulay said that the patients are all asymptomatic upon confinement until they were discharged from the hospital.
They were all tested negative of the virus twice. Dulay noted that most of their patients do not show any sign or symptom of the illness such as cough or fever but they are still being isolated in the hospital. Most of the cases have faster recovery or are yielding negative results earlier than the required seven to 14 days, but they are still being isolated for at least 14-days to make sure there would be no transmission.
Gov. Diclas informed that while most of those who recovered are frontliners, they are advised not to report yet to their duties and should still isolate themselves for 14 days either at the municipal or barangay isolation facilities or at their homes.
With the 11 new recoveries, the province has now a total of 22 patients who have recovered from among the 36 COVID -19 confirmed cases. Of the active cases, 11 are still confined at the BeGH while 3 are confined in health facilities in Baguio City.
