BSP recognizes stakeholder-partners in Region 1, CAR

SAN FERNANDO CITY, LA UNION – With an aim to strengthen collaboration with the various sectors in the Cordillera and Ilocos regions, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) La Union Regional Office recognized its partners in public service in the 2018 Awards Ceremony and Appreciation Lunch for Stakeholders on August 24, here.
With this year’s theme “Reinforcing Partnerships, Defying New Challenges”, the BSP presented the awards in various categories based on the implementation of their programs.
Under the business expectation survey category based on track record on cooperation, timeliness, completeness, and consistency of submission of the reports, the Outstanding Respondents were given to the Northwestern University of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte for large to medium firms, and Era Gas Corporation of Manaoag, Pangasinan, for small firms.
Moreover, distinctions for report comprehensiveness as an Outstanding Partner on Regional Economic Development in CAR and in Region I was given to the Regional Statistics Office of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in both regions.
The City Government of Alaminos, Pangasinan received the Kapit-Bisig City Level Award for their relentless support to the advocacies and exerted efforts to ensure compliance with the programs of the agency.
For the currency programs, the Outstanding Regional Partners for BSP Coin Recirculation were given to the City Government of San Fernando, La Union for La Union Regional Office (LURO); the Bankers Association of Laoag City and Ilocos Norte for Batac City branch, and Urdaneta City University for Dagupan branch.
Further, the Outstanding La Union Regional Partner on BSP Demonetization of the New Design Series was awarded to the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Cordillera Regional Office. Finalists for this award included the PIA Regional Office 1 and ABS-CBN TV 3 Baguio City.
While for Batac and Dagupan offices, the awards were separately given to ABS-CBN-Loaog and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Pangasinan provincial office.
The currency program awardees were adjudged based on the impact, participation, and innovation of conducted events.
Other institutions that were given awards showed strengthened linkages and networks and initiative in data dissemination through conduct of impactful and innovative public information campaign events. These include the following: CARD MRI Development Institute, Inc. of Bay, Laguna, DepEd City Schools Division of Batac in Ilocos Norte, and University of Luzon- College of Accountancy in Dagupan City, Pangasinan.
Moreover, the Outstanding Regional Knowledge Resource Network (KRN) Partner on communication, reporting, collection management and resource allocation was bagged by the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University and the Northwestern University Educational Resource Center.
During the ceremony, the outstanding awardees received trophies and the finalists received certificates of recognition.
“As strategists, we formulate policies that could help implement our programs and support our causes, and as we recognize the limitations, we need to be resilient and readily active to the ever-hoping needs of the clientele,” Dahlia D. Luna, senior assistant governor of the Currency Management Sector of BSP, said.
She added, “That is why the BSP cannot do it all alone, we need the support of our stakeholders in the fulfillment of our mandates and your presence is a true testament of these endeavors.”
Along with the recognition, the presentation of the development indicators and the summary of economic prospects in Luzon by Deputy Director Fernando Y. Silvoza of the Department of Economic Statistics and the keynote address delivered by Monetary Board Member Felipe M. Medalla of BSP.
According to the data presented, overall, the increasing financial resources support sustained the economic growth in Luzon despite higher inflation for 2018 which is above the government’s target range in Ilocos Region and CAR from January to July.
However, efforts focused on job creation and provision of more loans to help accelerate economic growth and improve the living conditions of the jobless and owners of small businesses.
