City bans liquor in construction sites, training centers

Baguio City has banned  liquor in construction sites and barracks and stay-in training centers as a preventive measure against Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and the dreaded Delta variant.
This was one of the additional restrictions in the revised General Community Quarantine general guidelines under Executive Order No. 89 series of 2021 issued by Mayor Benjamin Magalong which took effect last July 30.
The mayor said this is one way of preventing another surge in cases involving construction workers and trainees especially now that the city is bracing for the effects of the more dangerous Delta variant.
Drinking sprees had been identified as one of the causes of virus transmissions in the city with a number of case clusters linked to them.
The city experienced case outbreaks at construction sites and training centers just recently.
Under the revised GCQ rules, the city maintained the modified liquor ban adopted last April which prohibits sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages and liquor from 10pm to 10am.
If the consumption is incidental to dining in duly inspected food and beverage retail establishments, the allowable maximum quantity that may be served will be: “i. For beer, wine, or cocktails: a maximum of four (4) individual servings per diner; ii. For liquor and distilled spirits: a maximum of two (2) bottles per table shared by two (2) or more people where the volume of the beverage does not exceed one (1) liter; or a maximum of one (1) bottle per shared table of two (2) or more people where the volume thereof exceeds one (1) liter. Neither shall be served for any individual diner.”
