City Council realigns P20-M for Gibraltar’s new market satellite

BAGUIO CITY – The City Council has realigned P20 million for the construction of a new satellite market in Gibraltar. The said amount was previously allocated for the demolition of old Magsaysay building and construction of a collapsible parking along Magsaysay Avenue.

The move was through an Ordinance 17 Series of 2020 recently approved by the body. Mayor Benjamin Magalong has also approved the ordinance.

For the record, the council’s action was also in consideration of the letter dated (January 17,2020) by Architect Johnny Degay, Officer-in-Charge-City Building official, City Building and Architecture Office (CBAO).

“May we respectfully request the Honorable City Vice Mayor and the Honorable Members of the Sangguniang Panglunsod to cause the realignment of the project “Construction of Collapsible Parking along Magsaysay Avenue, Baguio City in the amount of Twenty Million Pesos under the Amended Investment Plan (AIP) 2019 against appropriation earmarked to the project entitled-Construction of Satellite Market, Gibraltar,” states in the letter.

“[Since] the redevelopment of the entire public market was already finished the proposed parking in Magsaysay Avenue is not proper this time,” the letter further states.
