Dengue cases rise in Benguet by 313% in 7 months

BAGUIO CITY (August 11, 2021)— The Benguet Provincial Health Office (PHO) bared there is a 313% increase of dengue fever cases in the province from January to July this year.
Benguet PHO Chief Dr. Nora Ruiz said they recorded more than 1,100 cases of dengue fever from the different towns of the province from January to July.
She said it is alarming especially that there are already three deaths because of dengue fever in La Trinidad and Itogon.
According to Ruiz, they have logged cases in the Bokod, Buguias, Kabayan, Kapangan, La Trinidad, Mankayan, Sablan ken Tuba.
She said that the number increased as they observed the stocking of water on the areas and portions where mosquitoes can lay their eggs. Ruiz stressed that appropriate measures were not observed in the places where cases of dengue fever were recorded.
The health officer reminded the people to be vigilant and active against dengue fever.
