Drowned 14-year old girl in Benguet found after more than 10 days

BAGUIO CITY(August 11, 2021)—  The body of the girl who drowned and went missing for more than 10 days was finally retrieved at at about 5:10 PM Wednesday at the river bank of Bantogey River in Barangay Balluay, Sablan, Benguet.

On July 31, 2021 during the onslaught of the strong winds and rains brought by the SouthWest monsoon, 14-year old Deserie Lagman Empleo fell into the waters of Tuhok River, Asin, Tuel, Tublay, Benguet. She was immediately swept away by the strong waters.

Rescuers immediately scoured the area downstream in their search for Empleo.

The SRT finally spotted the body at the riverbank of Bantogey River in Barangay Balluan, Sablan. The body is in a state of advanced decomposition.

The cadaver was already brought home at their residence in Tuel, Tublay. Deserie’s family decided to bury her remains Wednesday because of her body’s state.
