Drug pusher caught inside state-run Benguet University

BAGUIO CITY (February 23, 2021) – Antinarcotics operatives of the government trapped an alleged drug pusher in a sting operation Monday afternoon inside the compound of state run Benguet State University in La Trinidad, Benguet.
Christian Gray Cuña alias “Ischan”, a tattoo artist and a native of Calamba, Laguna, but temporarily living at Central Balili, also in La Trinidad, sold a sachet of shabu weighing 2,07 grams reaching P14,076.00 to a government agent, said operatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Benguet, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Benguet and Benguet police.
Cuña, authorities said, was among the so-called “Street Level Individual (SLI)” being tailed by anti-narcotics operatives.
PDEA-Cordillera director Gil Castro said, big or small drug pushers “are valuable targets of the war on drugs”.
Efforts to get all of them remains a priority, he added as he cited, “PDEA envisions to have drug-resistant and self-policing communities by 2030 in its new strategic road map in addressing the country’s drug problem in the next ten years.”
Since the agency aims to reduce drug affectation in the country in the next decade, it has updated its vision to “By 2030, we will have drug-resistant and self-policing communities”, PDEADirector General Wilkins Villanueva earlier said.
PDEA has enacted a mission of championing the reduction of drug-affectation through the implementation of the Barangay Drug Clearing Program (BDCP) that integrates supply, demand and harm reduction strategies with the main framework that embodies a holistic and whole-of-nation approach in addressing the drug problem by enlisting the participation of local government units (LGUs), government agencies, and various stakeholders of the national anti-drug campaign.
