Kalinga Gov’t Employees Undergo Aggressive Covid Testing

All employees of the Kalinga provincial government, who missed the initial RT-PCR test, undergo the Aggressive Community Testing (ACT) Wednesday (February 24, 2021).
The employees include permanent, elective, those working with contract of service and job orders were strongly encouraged by Acting Provincial Governor Frederick Pangsiw, who has temporarily
taken over the post of Governor Ferdinand Tubban, who remains in isolation for being COVID19 positive.
According to Provincial Information Officer Dionica Alyssa Mercado, only 91 employees were tested during the initial test on February 19, 2021 due to limited time. She said though that all of the 91 employees turned out negative.
Provincial Human Resource Management Officer Grace Kidang-Flores has asked all employees to be tested to ensure that they are COVID-19 free while delivering public services. She also encouraged the employees not to fear the test and results since this will ensure the prevention of COVID 19 transmission to family members, colleagues, friends, and the community. “As public servants, we should be sensible to support this call,” she said.
Department of Health (DOH) Cordillera Regional Director Ruby Constantino on February 24, 2021 said that Cordillera listed a total of 14,060 confirmed cases where there are 820 active cases, 13,602 recoveries and 203 related deaths.
As of February 23, 2021, Kalinga has 2,056 confirmed cases, 563 of which are still with active status, 1473 recoveries and 20 deaths.
