New officers of road safety marshals take oath

BAGUIO CITY – The newly elected officers of Highway Patrol Unit- Road Safety Marshals together with its more than 100 members took oath at Baguio Athletic Bowl on Friday (June 8, 2018).
The said event was headed by Highway Patrol Group Director PCSupt. Roberto Bigay Fajardo and organized by Baguio City Police Office (BCPO)-HPG led by PSupt. Rancer Evasco. Deputy Director for Admin PSSupt. Ely Cruz and Deputy Director for Operations PSSupt. Marlon Madrid were also present during the event.
The program started at 8am by welcoming all the members of HPU-CAR RSM, followed by the election of officers.
The elected officers are as follows: President-Robert Macagba, Vice-President-Arthur Evasco, Secretary-Olyve Awal, Asst. Sec.-Joy Lorenzo, Treasurer-Napoleon Cuyugan, Auditor-Van Mendoza, Assist. Auditor-Oliver Ayodoc, Public Relation officers-Moises Basa, Jason Traquena and Ysrael Torres.
Coordinators per group of motorists were also elected for better communication and coordination of events and announcements.
After the election of officers, a motorcade was done from Baguio Athletic Bowl to La Trinidad, Benguet then back to the city.
Another activity of the HPU-CAR RSM is the clean-up drive at Burnham Park right after noon of the same day.
The oath taking proper and the program resumed at 4pm when Director Fajardo arrived from Manila.
During the oath taking ceremony, PSupt. Evasco welcomed all the RHU-CAR RSM members and all the guests and officials.
He said that RHPU-CAR RSM was created because of the eagerness to search for a solution on how to make everyone safe while traveling. After the welcome remarks, the oath taking ceremony of the elected officers, coordinators the other members of the said group was led by PCSupt. Fajardo.
Fajardo said that he expects all the members of HPU-CAR RSM to be disciplined motorcycle riders and be responsible for the individual safety.
He also said that “riding in tandem” or “motorcycle riding suspect” is the biggest problem in every road. He mentioned the current situation in Cordillera about the road incidents. He ended his speech by saying that he believes that with all the support coming from all the members of HPU-CAR RSM under RHPU-HPG in the region, Baguio City and the rest of Cordillera will be a home of discipline.
