SAAD-Cordillera delivered interventions in Apayao

The Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) of the Department of Agriculture-CAR is now on its way in fulfilling the promises of the program in combating poverty in the province of Apayao.
A total of 40 corn farmers received their certificates last October 20, 2017 at Brgy. San Mariano Gymnasium, Sta. Marcela, Apayao for completing their Farmers Field School (FFS) on Corn Production under SAAD. Farmers had their lecture and field practicum for 18 weeks and Bernard Bareng, provincial corn coordinator, served as their resource person.
Delia Cuecaco, Municipal Agriculturist, challenged the SAAD beneficiaries to apply what they have learned so that in the future at least there will be an increase in their production. “Nagasat kayo ta dakayo ti napili nga beneficiaries ket sapay kuma ta iapply yo dagiti naadal yo. Sapay kuma ta dummakel ton ti production yo ken pumintas ton ti kasasaad yo iti sumarsaruno nga tawtawen,” she said.
Also, Tarcela Nacimo, corn farmer and one of the graduate, stressed that they have learned a lot from the training and they are very thankful for these kind of programs because farmers like them were given the opportunity to learn and to gain knowledge that they can apply in their crops. Moreover, she encouraged the other farmers to keep in their hearts and apply all the lessons they have learned.
After the graduation, Small Farm Implements worth P1.2M were distributed to corn, organic, and high value crop farmers. LENY MENDOZA / ABN
