San Fernando LGU brings Christmas cheer to indigent villagers

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – The City government of San Fernando headed by Mayor Hermenegildo Dong Gualberto and the Sangguniang Panlungsod headed by Vice-mayor Alfredo Pablo Ortega led the Christmas giving spirit through indigent villagers held at barangays Masicong, Mameltac, and Tanquigan in this city.
This is in-line with the City’s mission of fostering inclusiveness in the City, various People’s Day programs which dubbed “Paskong Pasasalamat”.
More than a thousand residents clustered barangays of Masicong, Sacyud, Pao Sur, Cabarsican, were all gathered in the first activity held in Masicong Elementary School on December 7 while barangays Abut, Bato, Dallangayan Este, Dallangayan Oeste, and Mameltac gathered in second activity held at Mameltac Elementary School on December 14, and third are barangays Sibuan-Otong, Birunget, Narra Oeste, Narra Este, and Tanquigan, all gathered at Tanquigan Elementary School recently (Dec. 19, 2018).Villagers were all given noche buena gift packs, food packs, social services such as medical, dental, and consultation services from the city health office, while other services like legal consultations, and assessor’s and civil registry.
They were also given Christmas raffle draws and hygiene gifts from sponsorships.
Relaxing massage or “hilot” and free haircut for men and women also provide by the LGU.
Continuous awareness through “palit bumbilya” and recycled materials by the city environment natural resources office in exchange from disposed fluorescent lamps, batteries, and plastic bottles, into newly LED light bulbs, and grocery items.
The office of the city agriculture also provides crop seedlings and registrations from various farmers.
Seminars from the national agencies such as the Commission on Population, Social Security System, and PhilHealth were all given knowledge and lectures concerning on family planning, pensions, and health security.
It is the vision of the City of San Fernando to see people grow and progress together. With the City’s joint efforts, San Fernando will fully become a People’s City by 2025 where no one will be left behind.
