STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL’S JOB FAIR AIDS 596; HIRED ON THE SPOT

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet- Twenty-six local job seekers in this capital town were hired on the spot in the recently concluded Job Fair, one of the major activity in the ongoing Strawberry Festival. The successful applicants were hired in the following positions namely– cashier ,branch secretary, Baker, customer attendants, food service crews, production crew, gasoline pump attendant. One of them was Kevin Luis from Atok, who was hired by Clean Fuel Corp. ‘Hindi ko akalain matatanggap ako, ‘Luis said.

Actually, a total 596 job seekers registered in the one day job fair held at the municipal grounds. Compared in 2023, 32 applicants were hired on the spot. Of the number, 19 applicants for local and 13 for overseas employment. This annual activity which started in 1999, was spearheaded by Public Employment Service Office (P.E.S.O.) in coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment (D.O.L.E.) and Department of Migrant Workers (D.M.W.). Elengly Bolidi, Labor and Employment Officer II (P.E.S.O. Manager), said most jobseekers nowadays are “choosy.” She emphasized knowledge, skills and most of all attitude are the main elements in landing a job.
