Tabuk mayor bet withdraws, cite age as reason, backs incumbent

A candidate for the mayoralty seat of Tabuk City has withdrawn her candidacy and instead threw her support to the incumbent mayor. A report said that Josephine Odsey has withdrawn from the local elections on May 9.
In his post-Thursday, Tabuk mayor Darwin Estranero said “a fellow candidate running for Mayor in the City of Tabuk has formally expressed her withdrawal of candidacy and is now voicing her support for our campaign.”
In his post, Estranero said that Odsey withdrew citing age as the reason. He wrote: “Ms. Odsey explained that, despite her wishes to help in the development of the city, she has also considered her age and the wishes of her family asking her to avoid strenuous activities this campaign season.”
He also wrote that Odsey: “has also narrated that after she has spoken with her fellow mayoralty candidates, her visions for a progressive Tabuk City aligns with our programs and advocacies, especially those involving healthcare, employment, and infrastructure projects.
He added: “With that, she is now wholeheartedly supporting our candidacy for Mayor of Tabuk City.” Estranero is seeking his second term as mayor.
