AQUATICS CENTER AT THE BENGUET SPORTS COMPLEX NEARING ITS COMPLETION FOR THE BENGUET ATHLETES

After the awarding of incentives to the Benguet athletes who represented the province during the Philippine National Games and Batang Pinoy, Congressman Eric Go Yap gives an update for the Aquatics Center during an interview Since its construction on 2022, The Aquatic Center located at Benguet Sports Complex is now nearing its completion according the congressman Hon. Yap states that by next year, the Aquatics Center, which is also a part of the Wangal Sports Complex, is expected to be done by next year 2025 to help the athletes of Benguet.

Furthermore, Hon. Yap announced that this center was constructed for the athletes of Benguet after finding out that
some of the athletes train on the rivers of Tuba. The Aquatics Center is said to have a 50 meter Olympic sized swimming pool, a 20 meter Lap Pool, bleachers, and locker rooms for athletes to have a safe space for their belongings. He added that the design was carefully planned by architects with active participation from the Office of the Congressman and athletes of aquatic sports to know their needs.

Hon. Cong. Yap also ensured that heaters for the pools will be installed for the comfort of the athletes that will be using the facilities. Upon completion, fees will be collected from non-athletes who wish to use the facilities, while
Athletes from Baguio City will receive discounts.The collected budget will be used to fund the maintenance of the aquatics center. Hon. Cong. Yap continues to work with the Department of Public Works Highways to keep a close eye on the construction of the center, making sure that the pools and facilities are up to the highest standards for the athletes of Benguet.

The Province has gathered Php 151 Million Budget for the Completion of the Aquatic Center and an additional Php 450 Million budget was accumulated for the construction of the Benguet Convention Center where Hon. Yap commented “Puwede tayong mag ‘don ng mga event tulad nito (Awarding of Incentives for the Benguet Athletes).Kung may mga function, puwede tayo mag host…”( we can carry out events like this. If there are functions, we can host…) After the completion of the Aquatics Center, The Office of the Congressman will turn over the center to the Local Government of Benguet. This is expected to occur in the early quarter of the year 2025.
