Benguet eyed as 1st class province

La Trinidad, Benguet(May 20, 2022)—-Benguet legislative caretaker and recently elected Benguet Congressman- Eric Go Yap vows before Benguet residents that he together with the officials and the people will tightly collaborate to make the province 1st class.
Yap during the thanksgiving of their “United Benguet” party at the Wangal Sports Complex in La Trinidad, Benguet on Wednesday, attended by thousands of Benguets together with their officials, stressed that the realization of real progress and development in Benguet is long overdue and the people deserved  such. 
The Congressman-elect said that he already talked to the heads of different departments especially those in charge of social welfare, employment and infrastructures to ensure that Benguet will be really included if not in the priority lists of their programs.
He said the Benguet people will surely benefit from the availability and the regularity of government programs and projects that will flood the province.
This he said that this will boost the economy and the people and also the provincial government. Yap said that if the people will progress, it will always be possible that Benguet will soon be a firat class province.
Yap also vowed that one of the many legislative actions that he will perform comes July is the seeking of a congressional inquiry on the rampant vegetable smuggling and illegal imports that are killing the livelihood of Benguet highland vegetable farmers.
He said that the pracrice should be stopped and the people behind the illegal activities be held accountable and prosecuted. He explained that he did not use the issue before during the electoral campaigns so as not to stain the matter with politicking.
He also urged the other political candidates of Benguet who did not make it in the recently concluded elections to continue their advocacies and extend their cooperation with the provincial government.
