Confusion moves organizers to make early announcement of Panagbenga 2020

BAGUIO CITY— Panagbenga 2020 grand street dancing and grand float parades will take place on February 29 and March 1, 2020, respectively, Baguio Flower Festival Foundation, Inc.

(BFFFI) co-organizer Freddie Alquiros said on Wednesday. The announcement was a result of earlier confusion among regular visitors who got used to the February parades.

Netizens also reportedly posted their frustrations on social media due to the unexpected change of parade schedules, which came in conflict with their holiday arrangement.

During Mayor Mauricio Domogan’s weekly “ugnayan” with the media on the same day, he mentioned that there were 20 delegations from Israel who came early in time for the festival, but didn’t make it on the parade.

He also mentioned the early arrival of some 60 participants from Dinagyang festival who were not able join the parade due to the change of parade schedules.

The foregoing situation prompted Domogan to order BFFFI to update their website and to include Panagbenga 2020, which is also the festival’s silver anniversary, “para sa mga overseas folks at foreign guests to know ahead of time the 2020 schedule of the festival,” Domogan said.
