DOH-CAR RECOGNIZES BENGUET FOR ACHIEVEMENTS INITIATIVES ON HEALTH

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet

The Provincial Government of Benguet headed by Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas and
several municipal LGUs received recognition from the Department of Helalth – Cordillera Administrative Region (DOH-CAR) during the 2023 Am-among for Health Awarding Ceremonies held in Baguio City on October 20, 2023.

Benguet was recognized for its Universal Health Care (UHC) implementation and its support to the MeaslesRubella Oral Polio Vaccine Supplemental Immunization Canpaign, with Provincial Health Office (PHO) headed by Dr. Meliarazon Dulay receiving Exceptional Leadership in Reproductive Health initiatives. Meanwhile, the Municipality of La Trinidad was conferred the Hall of Fame Award in Red Orchid Award while its Muncipal Health Office (MHO) was awarded Outstanding Advocate for Reproductive Rights and Equity.

La Trinidad District Jail Male and Female Dorminitories was also given the Red Orchid Award. For Primary Care Facility Star Awards, the Municipality of Kibungan clinched the first place, with Tuba bagging the third place. Itogon and La Trinidad were nominees. Further, the Municipalities of Sablan and Mankayan were recognized for getting the Zero Open Defecation Status.

Governor Diclas thanked DOH-CAR headed by Regional Director Dr. Rio L. Magpantay for their continued support for the LGUs and congratulated the Benguet team emphasizing the significance of collaboration and teamwork among the the health sectors. Health is among the major priorities of the Governor under his HEALTHIER Benguet agenda.
