DSWD inihahanda na ang mga food pack para sa tag-ulan

LUNGSOD NG BAGUIO – Inumpisahan na ng Department of Social Welfare and Development sa Cordillera Administrative Region (DSWD-CAR) ang paghahanda ng relief goods lalo na sa mga liblib na lugar sa panahon ng tag-ulan.
“We want to establish per province first because we cannot afford if it would be per municipality but we are prioritizing the clusters where road closures are common during a typhoon. These are mostly in the upland areas,” ani DSWD-CAR regional director Janet Armas sa “Kapit Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan” (KALAHI) Serye” regional local government forum noong Miyerkoles.
Sinabi ni Armas na ang paghahanda ng mga relief goods ay mahalaga dahil sa bulubunduking kalupaan ng rehiyon.
Tumutulong ang Philippine Army (PA) at ang Philippine National Police (PNP) sa transportasyon ng mga relief good at nagbibigay ng storage areas.
Sinabi ni Armas na kailangang magtatag ng warehouse dahil ang pagdownload ng relief funds sa local government units ay ipinagbabawal.
Katuwang ng ahensiya ang iba’t-ibang pasilidad ng gobyerno at militar na gagamitin bilang imbakan ng relief goods sa mga probinsiya.
Sa Cordillera, may warehouse sa Apayao, La Trinidad (Benguet), at Kalinga na inilagay sa mga headquarters ng Army sa ilalim ng isang memorandum of agreement.
“We recognize that the Philippine Army plays a major role in reducing and managing disaster risks in our communities. We are very much related that through this partnership, we will be able to
occupy and temporarily use a portion of their existing warehouse for pre-positioning our relief goods,” ani Armas.
“For the past years, the region experienced destructive typhoons, floods, and landslides. Kalinga province has been recorded to have one of the highest numbers of affected families. With its distance from the Field Office, the warehouse in Kalinga will definitely help us in providing the necessary relief assistance to the province and other nearby areas,” dagdag niya.
Sinabi ni Armas na may nakalaang 30,000 family food packs at contingency fund na PhP3 milyon para sa rehiyon.
