Former Baguio Mayor Domogan Donates 50 cavans to City

BAGUIO CITY — Former Baguio City mayor Mauricio G. Domogan donated 50 cavans of rice to the City Government relief operations center on Thursday, April 16, 2020 in support to the city’s efforts and initiatives to alleviate the inadequacy of several residents and stranded visitors in the cityamid the Covid-19 pandemic.
The donation was coursed through the ex-mayor’s former executive assistant Ryan Dale B. Mangusan and was received by City Social Welfare and Development officer Betty Fangasan.
“We hope that my family’s little contribution complement well the City Government’s aid and the generous donation of private persons. It brings happiness that most of us are united in our resolve to help one another in this time of need,” Domogan said.
The city is on its fourth week of enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) since its imposition on March 17 covering the entire island of Luzon, which was extended until April 30, 2020 by virtue of a memorandum order issued by the President on April 7.
Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) regional director Leo Quintilla reported that 355,332 families or around 1.44 million individuals in the region are affected by the ECQ during the inter-agency task force (IATF) joint coordination meeting on Monday, April 13.
An amount totaling P1.3 billion to benefit 305,000 families including DSWD 4Ps beneficiaries as financial subsidy under the DSWD Social Amelioration Program (SAP) has already been downloaded to the local government units, for proposals of the 75 municipalities and the 2 cities in the region, Quintilla said.
SAP records of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) as of April 15, showed 8,822 families validated, way too far from the 45,000 intended beneficiaries in the city.
The City Government as of April 14 has disbursed a total of P33,870,500 SAP financial subsidy to 6,225 beneficiaries in different barangays.
The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) had earlier mandated barangays to regularly post the list of SAP recipients in their respective jurisdiction. As of this writing, only 20 out of the city’s 128 barangays had so far posted lists of SAP beneficiaries online.
Mayor Magalong on Monday also said that the City Government was granted an additional P7 million for the implementation of the Tulong Hanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) which will benefit 2,000 individuals in addition to the 1,149 beneficiaries earlier subsidized by the program.
He said the TUPAD beneficiaries will receive the difference of P2,000 to address the disparity between the P5,500 SAP emergency subsidy and the cash assistance under TUPAD.
Earlier, Quintilla said that the DSWD SAP allocation for the City Government of Baguio to mitigate the impact of ECQ is P247 million for a target of 45,000 families.
The validation process of SAP would-be-beneficiaries will push through until the 45,000 targeted numbers of family beneficiaries in the city is attained, Magalong said.
