DOH-CAR urges continuous observance of COVID-19 prevention control measures

BAGUIO CITY, Apr. 12(PIA) — The Department of HealthCordillera (DOH-CAR) commended local government units, government agencies, and the private sector for their initiatives and innovations on COVID- 19 infection prevention and control while encouraging the continuous observance of preventive measures.
“Your efforts contributed to the disease control measures in our region,” DOH CAR Regional Director Amelita Pangilinan stated in an advisory.
As of April 10, CAR has 20 confirmed cases in Baguio City (14), Abra (3) and Benguet (3) with one death and 10 recovered. The provinces of Apayao, Ifugao, Kalinga and Mountain Province remain COVID-free.
Pangilinan encouraged the continuous observance and practice of evidence – based infection and prevention control measures against COIVD- 19 and other diseases spread through droplets. Observe social/physical distancing. Keep a distance of at least 3 feet or 1 meter away from other people to reduce the possibility of person-to-person transmission.
This distance should be observed even with apparently healthy persons without symptoms. Observe proper cough etiquette. Cough and sneeze into tissue or into shirt sleeve if tissue is not available. Dispose used tissues properly and disinfect hands immediately after a cough or sneeze. Wear facemask when available. Practice of proper hand washing. Perform regular and thorough hand washing with soap and water.
Use alcohol-based hand sanitizers containing at least 60% ethanol or isopropanol when soap and water are not available. Establish hand washing areas and strengthen hand hygiene in any public or private building, healthcare facilities, and check/choke points. Individuals are encouraged to perform hand hygiene upon entering and leaving the area. It is also recommended that adequate soap and water, and clean hand towel be provided The DOH also advocates for the prudent use of spraying/misting solutions.
The personnel in- charge for this procedure should ensure that the solutions being utilized will not cause irritation of eyes and skin, respiratory allergic reactions and other potential gastrointestinal effects to the individual. It also enjoins that endeavors to prevent the spread of COVID- 19 be diligently based on recommended practices equally considering the benefits and risks it may pose.
