Magalong reminds city workers to give “best service” to public

BAGUIO CITY — Mayor Benjamin Magalong is reminding city government workers to treat the public — their “customers””— with the utmost respect and politeness and deliver the “very best service possible” at all times.

This was revealed by city human resource management office (CHRMO) head Augustin Laban III during a recent gender sensitivity seminar conducted by his department in collaboration with the Civil Service Commission regional office.

He explained that the Mayor wants government workers to follow those working in the hotel industry where they greet their customers with a smile and say “good morning”, “good afternoon”, or whatever greeting is appropriate to make their customers welcome and at home.

Laban said the Mayor used the term “quality assurance” where the best service is always accorded the public since it is their taxes that pays the salaries of those in government.

Around 40 participants from various city government departments joined the activity aimed at fostering gender equality, equity and empowerment including the prevention of discrimination in any shape or form.

Resource persons also tackled issues on sexual harassment and the laws governing the matter especially regulations applicable to those working in the government service.

Laban pointed out that when it comes to women empowerment, the Summer Capital is well ahead of many other local government units since the city currently has five councilors while majority of its department and division heads are women.
