SAN FERNANDO, La Union

MV Doulus Hope, the popular floating bookfair among millennials, makes its comeback to the province of La Union and takes part in Ayat Fest 2024: La Union’s 174th Founding Anniversary. On February 14, 2024, GBA Ships, the operator of MV Doulos Hope headed by their Project Managers Oliver Dawson and Emmanuel Chiwala, paid a courtesy call to Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David in her office at the Provincial Capitol to discuss the iconic ship’s return and explore collaborative opportunities as it docks in the province.

During the meeting, Gov. Rafy invited MV Doulus Hope to be part of La Union’s 174th Founding Anniversary
Celebration through its official opening to the kaPROBINSYAnihan on March 7, 2024. GBA Ships management positively responded to the Governor’s invitation and invited her to be the Guest of Honor during their ribbon-cutting ceremony. Gov. Rafy also expressed her excitement on the MV Doulus Hope’s comeback in La Union emphasizing the significance of the ship’s mission in promoting literacy and cultural exchange, by providing access to educational resources, especially in underserved communities.

Scheduled to dock at the San Fernando City International Seaport in Poro Point from March 7 to 26, 2024, MV Doulus Hope’s return symbolizes not just a voyage but a continuation of a longstanding partnership between the Provincial Government of La Union and all kaPROBINSYAnihan in bringing “knowledge, help, and hope” not just in the province but to other communities and nation as well.
