Team Lakay falls – in mountain biking

It’s rare for Team Lakay’s Danny Kingad to be losing. Only two guys have done that on the man called “King” in the One Fighting Championship – flyweight champion Adriano Moraes and Grand Prix champion Demetrius Johnson most recently.
But on Sunday, Kingad absorbed another loss. Not against a muscled bruiser, who has spent hours in the gym toning his muscle, with an impressive striking prowess and grappling skill – but against a lanky man who literally had him bite the dust.
Xy James Dacayanan did just that but in a sport which comes second to the heart of practically every Team Lakay member – mountain bike. Dacayanan cruised to the cross country seniors men’s (22 – 29 years old) title last Sunday in the 111th Charter Day Mountain Bike Race.
The triathlete with Go For Gold PH needed just 36 minutes and 48.75 seconds for the win. On a dirt course that could rival Kennon Road in grade and curves, the 24-year old Kingad could only finish fourth nearly 10 minutes from the “king” and behind two others – Clint Salbino (43.08.33) and Renniel Cabanes (43.12.16). Kingad’s time was a respectable 46.35.12.
Meanwhile, Team Lakay coach Mark Sangiao said that he wants Kingad to fight flyweight king Moraes in his next fight.
Kingad (14 wins, two losses) suffered his first mixed martial arts loss to Moraes, who, however, is expected to face first Grand Prix winner Johnson. Kingad fell to Moraes on Nov. 14, 2017 and from there went on a six game winning streak before ranged against the “Mighty Mouse” Johnson in Oct. 12 last year and lost via unanimous decision.
He bounced back last January 31 with a win a unanimous decision on Wei Xei. Sangiao said that he wants Kingad facing the Brazilian champ whether he remains champion after the expected showdown with Johnson.
