Baguio City Poor Families Continue Getting Relief Packs From Gov’t

BAGUIO CITY (April 24, 2020) — Families in dire need continue to receive relief packs from government, 36 days since the Luzon-wide ECQ.
Amid non -stop complaints of relief goods not reaching numerous families even here in Baguio City, the city’s Office of Social Welfare and Development claimed to have distributed over P26 million worth of relief goods consisting 200,817 packs from March 17 to April 23, 2020.
Of the total P26 million worth of relief packs distributed, over P19 million was sourced from the coffers of the city government and over P2 million was the total monetized value of relief packs received from the Department of Social Welfare and Development Office (DSWD) while over P4.9 million was the total monetized value of all relief good donations received by the city.
In the report of CSWDO, number of food packs vary per barangay depending on the list of vulnerable families assessed and submitted by the barangay officials Vulnerable sector is defined by the CSWDO as 1) members of 4Ps or the Pantawid Pamilya Pilipino Program, the poorest of the poor, indigents and those who are not capable of feeding themselves; 2) Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), seniors, displaced workers, stranded students, pregnant and solo parents; and 3) general population.
Several non-food items consist of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), sanitation tents and paraphernalia, hygiene kits and supplies were also received by the city government from various donors with a total monetized value of over P7.8 million from March 17 to April 23, 2020.
On the Social Amelioration Program, the City Treasury Office have distributed a total of P103, 830,000 covering 19,013 beneficiaries as of April 23. SAP beneficiaries in the city reach a total of 45,000 families.
