BANGUED, Abra, Apr. 27(PIA) – Employees of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in the province exhibited the Filipino bayanihan spirit in this challenging time voluntarily sharing their one day salary for relief goods for some Abrenios.
The initiative raised more than Php 160, 000 from permanent employees and some job orders which they used to buy goods. Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer Marcelo G. Bumidang led the distribution of relief goods in Brgy. Naguillian in Sallapadan municipality last April 24.
There were 127 recipients composed of 102 senior citizens, 13 persons with disability, 12 solo parents. The relief goods which were packed by the employees and job orders of DENR Abra consisted of rice, canned goods, alcohol, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, noodles, 3-in-1 coffee, condiments and medicines.

“The generosity of the employees is their way to extend help, care and concern to their fellow Abrenios amid the pandemic, similarly as other DENR employees in the other provinces in Cordillera region are doing for their province mates,” Bumidang said.
