Hardwares, Office, Electric, Auto Supply Stores Temporarily Open For 3 Days

BAGUIO CITY(March 27, 2020) — As medical frontliners are already in danger of the lack of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs), Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong has allowed hardware stores, office supply stores and also auto supply to open for three days from FridaySunday (March 27-29) to allow volunteers making improvised
PPEs and other essentials to buy the needed materials.
In an executive order numbered 69, series of 2020, Magalong noted that the supply of PPEs for the health workers, emergency respondents and employees of the city government’s critical services is running low.
To remedy the situation, the city government and residents of Baguio have answered the call to produce improvised PPEs for front liners.
Magalong said that the materials needed for the PPE can only be purchased from establishments that have been ordered temporarily closed for the duration of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).
“Service vehicles, being used by front liners, critical utility workers and those transporting supplies and materials to critical service within the city must also be well maintained and ready for immediate use,” Magalong stated citing the opening of auto supply stores.
Establishments are open from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM during the three-day period. Meanwhile, the mayor warned some barangays to adhere to the ECQ rules and refrain from being hard headed.
He warned sternly that he will put erring barangays under total lockdown. A barangay was already under a total lockdown upon the instructions of Magalong for numerous violations of the quarantine regulations.
Some groups though like the non-government Tongtongan ti Umili (Dialogue among the people) urged the city government and barangay officials to make sure that the people get equal distribution of relief goods so that they have something to eat while on quarantine.
The group said, this will convince people not to get out from their homes to look for food.
