H’land folks lauded for pioneering DILG’s Disiplina Muna campaign

Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo M. Año praised Baguio City and the rest of the Cordilleras for pioneering the agency’s “Disiplina Muna” advocacy.
In a virtual message at the regional launching of the program at the Baguio Country Club, July 22, Año also commended Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong for being an effective brand ambassador for the advocacy campaign in the region.
In 2019, DILG unveiled the advocacy to encourage compliance to government regulations. It is basically aimed at achieving road clearing; disaster preparedness and resiliency; stricter implementation of laws controlling tobacco smoking and consumption of spirits; and, decisive action to curb distribution of illegal drugs.
It is likewise geared towards instituting modes to ease the conduct of business; promoting environmental protection; and, the cleaning up of tourist destinations.
The DILG meantime underscored, the highland brand of discipline was especially manifest during the imposition of community quarantine measures, when people made conscious effort to comply with health standards to curb spread of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
He bared, the city and region’s best practices had, in fact, been replicated by other local government units. Mayor Magalong thanked the DILG. He however clarified, the local residents’ compliance with government regulations made it easier for government to advance growth and development in the city and the region.
For their part, representatives from other agencies of government and the private sector renewed their commitment to advance the implementation of the DILG advocacy.
