LA UNION COVID-19 VACCINATION KICK-OFF

SAN FERNANDO, LA UNION Now equipped with the CoViD-19 Vaccine, the Province of La Union rolls out its #BakunaMuna CoViD-19 Vaccination Program, March 6, 2021 at the La Union Medical Center (LUMC), Agoo, La Union targeting around 80 medical frontliners for Day 1.
Increasing the trust of medical frontliners who gave consent to receive the vaccine, it was first administered to LUMC Chief Executive Officer IV Dr. Glenn Ernest Fonbuena and Provincial Health Officer Dr. Eduardo Posadas.
Present during the launching ceremony were Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III; 2nd District Board Member Christian Rivera; Agoo Mayor Dr. Stefanie Ann Y. Eriguel; and Department of Health (DOH) – Center for Health Development 1 Representative Dr. Ronia Aragon.
In his message, Gov. Pacoy Ortega said, “This is a testament of how we give importance to our healthcare workers who have unselfishly, and willingly served our Kaprobinsiaan from the start of this crisis. Today, we honor their commitment to their profession. Today, we choose to prioritize them as we pay respect and give back for their sacrifices,” as he encouraged everyone to get vaccinated when given the chance.
The governor also expressed his willingness to be among the first to get vaccinated just to convince others to follow and to increase the uptake of the vaccine. But he clarified this is only upon the recommendation of DOH so as not to disrupt the allocation.
In her message Mayor Eriguel underscored the role of medical frontliners in this battle against CoViD-19. She said, “We have been working tirelessly to safeguard you and your families. We give our utmost admiration for the work you have done.”
On the other hand, Dr. Aragon said, “Let us make use of this vaccine. Lets protect our health workers who are at most risk. Lets vaccinate our priority groups so we can reduce morbidity. Lets continue to protect ourselves.”
There is a continuing increase in healthcare workers who signified consent to get vaccinated. The LUMC received the first batch of 700 doses of vaccines yesterday allotted for 350 medical frontliners of said tertiary CoViD-19 Referral Hospital.
