National Rice Awareness Month

The 2019 National Rice Awareness month celebration generally aims to promote the consumption of locally produced rice. Department of Agriculture – CAR, Regional Executive Director Cameron P. Odsey encourage consumers to patronize local rice and support local farmers, motivate farmers to continue producing rice for consumers to promote awareness of the value of locally produced rice.
This year’s theme focuses on how rice farmers, consumers and policy makers support the consumption of locally produced rice amidst influx of imported cheap rice and keeping local producers in business. Together with the director are outstanding farmers of Province of Kalinga Honorio Celemencia, Mt. Province Heirloom Rice Farmer Saturnina Wadingan, Coop Sonia Pengosro Benguet Heirloom Rice, Jovencio Sevilleja Farmer, Province of Ifugao and Jerome Baay- Abra Heirloom Rice Farmer during the Kapihan sa Baguio held at D.A. Conference Room, Guisad Road last November 21, 2019.
