NBI Asked To Step In 15 Year Old Girl’s Slay In Ilocos Sur

BAGUIO CITY – Distrusting the police,  Ilocos Sur Governor Ryan Singson is urging a separate investigation by the National Bureau of Investigation on the killing of 15 year old girl in Cabugao on July 2.
Singson said that he wanted a thorough investigation to give justice to the victim, Fabel Pineda, who was gunned down by riding-in-tandem assassins while on her way home aboard a motorcycle with two of her relatives.
The teener reportedly just came from Cabugao police station, where she followed up on a molestation case that she lodged against two policemen of the neighboring San Juan town.
Singson warned the Ilocos Sur police against “white washing” their investigation, since the suspects are one of theirs.
Although already relieved from their posts, Gov. Singson said he wanted a close monitoring of the two policemen, sensing personalities have began influencing the events around the girl’s murder.
Singson claimed “the trust and confidence of the people on the PNP is already tainted”, while lambasting the leadership of Ilocos Sur police following reports that journalists were being denied access on the case and other crime issues in Ilocos Sur.
While Region 1 police director Brig. Gen. Rodolfo Azurin welcomed Gov. Singson’s tact to help in the investigation of the young girl’s slay.

“It’s good that the Governor is helping in the investigation so that justice will be served for everyone specifically the victims”.
Azurin promised, “(they) will cooperate and continue to investigate the case as part of the admin case against the suspects.”
Azurin claimed the Ilocos Sur police had already filed murder charges  against the two policemen on Friday, while assuring that Ilocos Sur police director Col. Ronald Tagao was just waiting for the medico-legal report on the rape victim for the filing of the case.
The Ilocos region police official also claimed that Gov. Singson and Col. Tagao agreed on Sunday night that Pineda thru her legal counsel opted to file the case directly before the courts.
