PNP chief confers medals to 15 Cordillera cops

LAGAWE, Ifugao (PIA) – Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar conferred medals to 15 Cordillera police officers for their invaluable contributions particularly in the campaign against illegal drugs.
Eleazar personally pinned the medals to awardees from various police units of the Cordillera Region during his recent command visit at the Ifugao Police Provincial Office as part of his one-day three-leg visits in Regions 2, 3 and CAR.
Awardees of the Medalya ng Kagalingan are Lieutenant Colonels Romel Sawatang, Armando Lorete, Jr., Dinulong Tombali, Melchor Boaquen, Christopher Rey Natnat and Joshua Alejandro; Police Captain Basilio Hopdayan, Jr., Police Lieutenants Ricardo Dumangeng and Reynaldo Lagnason, Chief Master Sergeant Wayne Galap, Staff Sergeant Johnny Gano and Corporal Richard Omagtang.
For the Medalya ng Papuri, awardees are Colonel Juliet Salvador, Major Roldan Portera and Lieutenant Gerald Bentadan.
The Medalya ng Kagalingan is awarded to members of the Philippine National Police for a single act of heroism or a series of heroic acts in a duty responsibility while the Medalya ng Papuri is awarded for demonstrated exemplary efficiency, devotion and loyalty to their duty responsibility.
Eleazer lauded the police officers for a job well done. He enjoined everyone to concentrate on the agency’s programs with the goal of  gaining high level of trust and confidence of the people to the police force.
“Our objective is to keep winning the hearts and minds of the people that we are serving. We need their trust, confidence and respect for them to help heartily that make us more effective in our mandates,” the PNP chief stated.
He also reiterated that the PNP has the roadmap that contains the programs of the agency that need to be implemented effectively and efficiently. This includes the intensified cleanliness policy or the three Cs like cleanliness in the office, cleanliness in rank and cleanliness in the community.
Governor Jerry Dalipog affirmed the support of the provincial government to the integrated transformation program of the PNP for a genuine public service geared to becoming an elite police force in due time mindful of the protection of every citizen, honor, human rights and safety.
“Our duty to our province and to our people our utmost priority, we are all part of the continuing endeavor, improve the quality of police service and may our active participation achieve the goal of a capable, productive and effective police force to serve and protect the people,” Dalipog stated.
