Rider Dies From Motorcycle-Truck Smash-up In La Union

BAGUIO CITY (June 19, 2021)— A rider was declared dead on arrival at the hospital after his motorcycle collided with a wing van truck along the national highway in Barangay Consolacion, Agoo, La Union dawn Saturday.
Jonathan Blaya from Barangay San Joaquin Sur, Agoo, La Union,  was heading home going south on board his motorcycle while the truck driven by Alan Selmo, 38, from Candon City, Ilocos Sur, was heading north when the accident occured at 1:40AM Saturday.
Police said the motorcycle occupied the opposite lane when Blaya avoided a stray dog but smashed head on against the approaching truck. The driver of the truck was identified as Alan Selmo, 38, and a resident of Candon City, Ilocos Sur.
Blaya, suffering multiple injuries from the impact, was rushed to the La Union Medical Center but did not make it.
Meanwhile, a 48-year old man is under observation at a hospital after he was side swiped by a car along the  national highway in Barangay Taboc, San Juan, La Union in the Friday evening.
The victim was identified  as John Salcedo, a resident of Angono, Rizal.
Based on the investigation, the victim was crossing the road when he was hit by the car. It was alleged that he did not see the approaching vehicle.
The victim was rushed to  a medical facility in San Fernando City, La Union.
The driver of the car, who was not identified is under the custody of the police.
