WWII veterans on 77th Day of Valor

BAGUIO CITY – The city of Baguio commemorated the 77th Day of Valor on Tuesday, April 9 at the Veterans Park joining 3 World War II (WWII) survivors, and guest speaker Philippine Army general officer Bartolome Vicente Bacarro.

Bacarro is a recipient of the Philippines’ highest military award for courage, the Medal of Valor, and is currently the commanding officer of the 502nd Infantry Brigade of the 5th Infantry Division.

Cadets of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) led the flag raising ceremony followed by the traditional 21 gun salute.

City officials, Veteran Groups, the 3 WWII survivors, and Bacarro offered flowers to the shrine of veterans. Bacarro said that this day should give at least one lesson to all who foresee the grimace of war and to choose to live in peace.

“Each one of you should have at least one lesson from the grimace of war, continue the like of peace,” Bacarro said.
