Abra under 1-week ECQ, Bernos parents positive despite AZ vax

For one week starting Sptember 1, Abra will be under enhanced community quarantine. Gov. Ma. Jocelyn Bernos signed Executive Order AU – 03 declaring the province under ECQ for a week due to the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in the province.
Under the EO, a provincewide curfew from 8PM until 4AM will be observed. Abra folk are also required now to have their white pass anytime one need to get out of his or her house.
No one is allowed to get out or enter the province during the period. Even authorized persons outside of residence are required to have their RT-PCR test result, while people with official business are allowed to enter the province.
The EO said that even those who want to go home and visit their family must do it after the ECQ is lifted. The province has also declared a liquor ban even as wearing of face masks will be strictly enforced.
Meanwhile, Bernos has again pleaded with her constituents to follow the guidelines under ECQ.
“Agpapaakasi ak latta ka probinsyaan. Please agtalinaed ti balay. Madama nga umado nga umado ti positive cases tayo. Masapol mi iti cooperation yo ita nga kanito (I am pleading with you my province-mates. Please stay at home. At present the number of positive cases are going up.
We need your cooperation at this time), Bernos wrote on the Abra Province Facebook Page. She added: “Seven-days man nga agtalinaed kau uneg balay yo, agusar kayo ti facemask uray adda kau uneg ti pagtaengan (Seven days, please stay at home, use facemasks even
you are home).”
Bernos said that their isolation facilities had been filled. She added: “Haan mi ammo no ania pay ti pangipanan tayo kadagiti sumarsaruno nga positives tayon. Bareng mapalubusan tayo manen nga buluden dagiti school buildings tapno mausar nga pagyanan dagiti awan symptoms nga positive tayo (We do not know where to bring the new [Covid-19] positive patients.
We do hope that the school buildings will be lent for our use that will be used by positive cases with no symptoms).” She further said in Iloko: “What we ask frontliners, both medical and non-medical, for you to stay home.” She added: “We need the help and full cooperation of all Abrenio.”
As this developed, the parents of Bernos, Bangued mayor Dominic and vice mayor Mila Valera, who were earlier jabbed with AstraZeneca, tested positive for Covid-19.
In her Facebook page, Bernos said that her parents have mild symptoms but plead with employees of the municipal government of Bangued to inform the Regional Health Unit who were in close contact with her parents the days prior the confirmatory results.
She wrote: “This way, we can fast track contact tracing. We also ask that you submit yourself to quarantine until the RHU gives you the clearance. This is for your protection and your loved ones.” She added: “As a daughter, I pray for the recovery of my dad and mom.” Bernos said: “As governor, I ask everyone to be careful always. I ask that everybody must observe the minimum health protocol. Specially the seniors, I ask you humbly that if you are not yet vaccinated, please enlist so you get jabbed. At present, you are still the priority of our vaccination teams at your place.”
“I ask all my provincemates for your cooperation. Stay at home unless you need to get out. Be very careful when you get out of your house especially when you go to work. Avoid joining a crowd. We do not know if the one you are in contact with has the virus already. This time, we treat everyone that they already have the virus.”
