Behavioral Effects of Modern Gadgets to Students

When it is true that gadgets and technologies have effect on the academic performance of students, let us not remove the doubt that it has also a great effect to the behaviours of students and children.

According to David Buckingham(2006) noted that modern technologies include mobile phones and the negative impact of technology on children’s behaviour i.e. violence and aggressiveness.

Different researchers explored the correlation between usability of technologies and its effect to children’s behaviour. Modern technologies that are targeted towards children, mobile phones with applications such as video games, internet connections may affect these children.

According to Kirsh(2010:3) children are more like to use of these technologies especially phones with applications. This may also help in children’s progress but in spite of these when children use this kind of technologies their attitude change. It is believed that violence does account for major cause of children’s aggression in their behaviour , and it is true that some children are more likely to be affected by such a violence that often show on video games. The effect of violence leads these children more aggressive in their attitudes than otherwise.

This is proven in the different researches conducted by Sonia Livingston,Haddon,L.Gorzig.A. and Olafsson that from the 9-10 years and 15-16 children surveyed that usage of technologies with internet and applications might itself be risky for the children. That there are several other associated risks wth these technologies such as they can get in to incidental learning process or intensity of message or content might influence their learning, attitude and general conduct.

Now it is an accepted truth that these technologies account for all causes of children’s aggression and it can be perceived that some children are a great deal more likely to be affected by change shown on internet and using mobile phones than other children.

Moreover , the effect of violence leads these “ at –risk” children to be even more aggressive than the others who normally behave and not frequent use of modern gadgets. These technologies have developed very deep root in our society. These may have subtle and severe effect by depicting digital culture. And studies proved that these are influencing the behaviour of our children.
