Cordillera Cops arrested 9, burns P2.9 M marijuana plants in Kalinga

CAMP MAJOR BADO DANGWA, La Trinidad Benguet: Despite the intensive efforts of Police Regional Office Cordillera to maintain peace and order and ensure public safety and security amidst the implementation of the extended Enhanced Community Quarantine, 9 individuals were nabbed from various violations over the week while 2.9 million worth of marijuana was destroyed in Kalinga.

Leading the list of arrested drug suspects is a High-Value Individual (HVI) security guard Jose Marie Pamintuan Sandoval, 37, who was arrested through the implementation of Search Warrant in his residence at FE 110 Stonehill, Balili, La Trinidad, Benguet in the afternoon of May 5, 2020. Along with his arrest is the seizure of three (3) sachets of suspected “shabu”.

In a recent buy-bust operation, three drug peddlers identified as Alvin Badcong Delfin, Novenio Laguiwey Dokit and Noel Palcongan Atas were nabbed at Kabayan-Buguias Road, Abatan, Buguias, Benguet in the night of May 7, 2020. Evidence confiscated were 3 pieces of sachet containing suspected shabu, three (3) assorted cellular phones, 4 lighters, Php3, 000 buy-bust money and a White Tamaraw Fx with plate no. KVE223 Moreover, 2.9million worth of marijuana was destroyed in Sitio New Balbalan, Lacnog, Tabuk City, Kalinga on May 5, 2020 under the leadership of the newly installed Officer in Charge Provincial Director P/Col. Davy Limmong of Kalinga Provincial Police Office.

The operatives implemented the OPLAN Manlavut that led in the discovery of five marijuana plantation sites with a land area of 1,200 sqm planted with more or less 14,500 fully grown marijuana plants and one bottle of marijuana seeds weighing more or less five grams.

The troops exerted effort to locate for cultivators but to no avail. However, follow-up investigation is ongoing to identify the owner or cultivator of said plantation.

Meanwhile, four gamblers identified as Abraham R Omaoeng, Dalmacio L. Maliones,Manolo S. Capsel, and Robert S. Orsua, all residents of Binanga Norte,Tuding, Itogon, Benguet were captured in Binanga Norte, Itogon, Benguet in the night of May 4, 2020.

They were caught in the act of playing pusoy after a concerned citizen reported to the cops regarding the ongoing illegal gambling activity that led in the confiscation of one set poker cards and Php380.00 cash money.

Another violator, Davis Namoro Marcos, 40, farmer was arrested in his residence in Central Ampasit, Puguis, La Trinidad, Benguet in the night of May 5, 2020 for illegal logging activity.

Confiscated evidence was five (5) pieces of sawn pine lumber. All arrested suspects are now under the custody of the concerned operating units and appropriate charges are already filed against them in court.

PROCOR police force is doubling its efforts to eradicate all forms of illegal activities within the region despite the enormous tasks in the implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine.

“We will keep on conducting operations in the coming days and we are serious in attaining our vision of maintaining our region as a peaceful and orderly one,” PBGEN ARWIN SA PAGKALINAWAN said.
