DOST launches college scholarship programs for juniors and G12

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The Department of Science and Technology Education Institute (DOSTSEI) has recently launched science scholarship programs for 2019 junior college students and S&T scholarship programs for 2020 undergraduates in the region, DOST-SEI scholarship coordinator Shiela Marie Singa- Claver said.

Claver said that the junior science scholarship can be availed by the incoming third year college student whose general weighted average (GWA) is at least 83%.

The undergraduate S&T scholarship is for 2019-2020 graduates of grade 12. Claver also said that applicants should be natural born Filipino citizens.

The following courses are already acknowledged by the department, Claver said: Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Science; Bachelor of Science in Management Information System; Bachelor of Science in Geography; BS Pharmaceutical Science; and Bachelor of Library and Information Science.

Claver also encouraged STEM tract graduates to apply for the examination.

Meanwhile, DOST-SEI scholarship staff Marites Banaòa said that the qualified applicants for both programs will enjoy monthly allowance of 7,000 pesos; book allowance of 5,000 pesos every semester; tuition fee and other school fees of 20,000 pesos each semester; and post graduation clothing allowance of 1,000 pesos.

Banaòa added that those who are enrolled or going to enroll in public schools can no longer avail the allotted tuition fee because they are already paid by the government.

Application for junior scholarship is ongoing and will end on April 26, 2019; while the undergraduate scholarship will start on June 3, 2019 until September 6, 2019.

Examination for the applicants of junior scholarship will be on June 2, 2019; while the undergraduate scholarship will be on October 20, 2019.

Application forms may be availed at DOST-CAR office located at Km.6, La Trinidad, Benguet. A downloadable version is also available on their website www.sei.dost.gov.ph.
