DSWD USec Isko Moreno exhorts LGUs in Cordillera to submit priority programs

Undersecretary for Luzon Affairs Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso urged the local chief executives in the region to fast-tract submitting their priority projects and programs to the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Cordillera (DSWD-CAR).
Domagoso, who served as keynote speaker during the LGU forum on Tuesday (June 5), said DSWD still has enough funds to cater to these priority projects. However, he said that LGUs, including the community, should take immediate action and identify their priority projects before the other regions get all the remaining funds.
“I’m calling the attention of the LGUs specially the community to immediately look and identify their priority projects. So that the agency can give funds,” Moreno said.
Moreno said the agency has already spent at least P28 billion to different projects. But the agency has a few more billions to shell out.
“The government has allotted these funds to address the problems of the community. And don’t worry because we still have funds for your proposed projects,” he said.
During an interview, DSWD-CAR regional director Janet Armas said there are at least 102 community driven projects that were not funded in the region. These projects were identified during our Participatory Situation Map Analysis (PSMA).
“We’re asking them to finish the Community Empowerment Activity Cycle (CEAC) process so that we can accept their proposals for them to avail of the grants for their projects,” she said.
The forum was well attended by local chief executives in the region who expressed their gratitude to DSWD and USec Domagoso for their continuous support and assistance. DIONISIO DENNIS JR. / ABN
