‘Health care in distress as 86 healthworkers in Ilocos Norte hit by Covid’

BAGUIO CITY (August 4, 2021) – The health care of Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center (MMMH&MC) in Batac City, Ilocos Norte is in distress as 86 health workers contracted Corona Virus Disease (Covid 19).
The healthworkers are now isolated according to the management of the hospital.
The MMMH&MC is a major Covid-19 referral facility in Ilocos Norte.
It is at present treating 121 Covid-19 patients as of 5:00 PM of August 3, 2021
Meanwhile, the Ilocos Regional Interagency Task Force (IATF) approved the request of the Task Force “Salun-at” (Health) to temporarily suspend the entry of Returning Overseas Filipinos and Locally Standed Individuals (LSIs) starting August 3 to August 15, 2021.
The Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte stated that the measure will help in the mamagement of the Covid 19 situation in the province.
While the province’s capital Laoag City together with Batac City and Pagudpud town are under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) while Bacarra, Badoc, Pinili and Burgos towns are under General Community Quarantime (GCQ).
The rest of the province are under Modified ECQ. The said status lasts until August 15, 2021.
As of 11:00 PM of August 3, 2021, the province logged 379 cases and five Covid-related deaths in just a day.
The province has 3,657 active cases and a total of 8,947 cases.  There are 5,160 recoveries while there are already 130 Covid-related deaths.
