Local archers eye slot in Philippine archery team

The country’s fourth ranked female player Keturah Colleen Gonzales will head to the shooting range and lead local archers as they seek slots in the Philippine archery team that will represent the country in the 31st Southeast Asian Games in May in Hanoi, Vietnam.
The fourth seeded University of Baguio pride will vie along with local archers for the Baguio leg of the eliminations that will be done all over the Philippines.
Practice rounds started today, November 5, with the competitions to be slated this weekend, November 6 and 7, at the Baguio athletic bowl.
Hundreds of archers from all over the country will be trying their skills and hope to barge into the Hanoi SEAG wearing the Philippine color.
The tournament will be judged online. Top Filipino archer Jayson Feliciano, also a UB student who saw action in the Olympic Qualifier last May in Paris, France will be seeking his slot in the Manila stage.
Other venues of the qualifiers are in La Union, Belarmino in Manila, the Manila Polo Club in Makati City, Novaliches in Quezon City, Cebu City, Dumaguete City for the Visayas legs, Davao City, General Santos City and Koronadal City in Mindanao as well as in the United States.
The last Baguio archer to see action in the SEAG was Kareel Meer Hongitan who saw action in the 29th and 30th edition. She helped power the women’s team to the bronze medal in the 2017 edition.
