National Disaster Month

July Month is about to end and we are to look forward to the Month of August but before we do so, may we have this time to remind ourselves to be always prepared for any kinds of disasters, whether natural or man-made, as what City Administrator Atty. Carlos Canilao said during his reports and updates last July 2, 2018. But allow me to add iKit that if you are a concerned citizen, when you think a tree might fall or soil may erode and it is dangerous to your constituents then by all means report it immediately to the concerned government agencies.

The National Resilience Month with its theme “Katatagan sa Kalamidad ay Makakamtan kapag sapat ang Kaalaman sa Kahandaan,” the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office organized series of activities which highlight updates on DRRM, inauguration and blessing of their brand new disaster operation center with evacuation center facility at the compound of the City Engineering Office just recently, contribution in making the city 6th Safest City in Asia thru CDRRMO, Fourth in 2014 City Government of Baguio thru the CDDRMO entered into a memorandum of understanding with the United Nation World Food Program which granted the city 2.6 million to help make Baguio prepared to respond and act on disaster providing capacities and capabilities for resilient communities and to strengthen the CDRRM system which garnered them a plaque of appreciation during the UNWFP Disaster Preparedness and Response Project Completion Ceremony held at Manila last April 27, 2018. As CDRRMO personnel, equipped with training and seminars, now conduct disaster preparedness, contingency planning, basic life support and basic first aid, search and rescue familiarization and incident command system.

Meanwhile, Canilao now appeals to the city legislative body to strengthen the tourism office by making it a department, for tourism is our city’s main primary source of income. Especially now that we are expecting upcoming events to be held in the City of Baguio like the Batang Pinoy National Championships on September this year.

However, with all this demands the City Government of Baguio needs to allot a big amount of money; but if we are to think about the good outcome of what other region believe about the people of Baguio, encouraging them more to come back anytime they want, then by all means do it so. “Okay lang mawalan ng pera, ‘di bale na at kinikita naman iyan. Dahil ang perang pinaghirapan ay hindi madaling mawawala at kung ginastos sa may katuturan ay mabuti kung gayun dahil ang grasya ay tiyak na babalik sa iyo at higit pa.”

In Bible (KJV) Matthew 5:45, “That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.”

This is yours truly Tita Ara Katter of 98.7 ZRadio that always reminds you “Ti panagkaykaysa, mangiwanwan iti naranyag nga Pagsayaatan.”
