New LT municipal building, suntok sa buwan?

Everyone seems to be in favour of this long overdue project for municipal building of La Trinidad. However, it may only be a matter of time, budget and sacrifices before it will push through. Mayor Romeo Salda said that from the General Saving Funds of La Trinidad and Supplemental Budget or probably a loan from the bank this will be possible to fast track the dream Project.

Vice Mayor Joey Marrero also added that it is about time to renovate the hall especially it is declared as the first class municipality; knowing that Kabayan and Itogon already have better building than LT. The renovation of the municipal hall is not only for beautification but also to develop convenient facility, equipment to serve the public properly especially the people with disability and senior citizen.

La Trinidad Engineer Benedict Pineda said that he was actually challenged by some engineers like him to finalize the said design and present it to the mayor for approval. Suntok sa buwan, because according to Pineda, it is not easy – P150M is no joke. Engineer Pineda clearly stated that the new  LT municipal hall is a four-storey building that for the first phase is worth P70M in which they already have more or less P25M to start the project; then for the second phase, they need P80M in which it may take six years to finish. But he is hopeful that with the help of Sangguniang Bayan and municipal mayor, they will start the project with a final design, enough budget, determination and understanding that hopefully, the project will only take three years.

The rotting woods and oozing smell is unlikely for an office of the government. With the renovation of the building, how wonderful the services are should be considered as well. And the public will surely claim for transparency, after all it’s the people’s money anyway. And with this, bidding will be surely open for interested contractors in the near future. But please be reminded that substandard material is a big no for La Trinidad deserves the best.

Yes, it is true that we cannot take our possessions with us when we die someday but of course we shall spend it wisely while we are still here on earth. Do some decisions that will not only benefit oneself but for everyone. Leave a legacy that people will be happy to enjoy what have been passed onto them. In the Bible (KJV) 1 Cor. 3:9 “For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.” We are all God’s steward to continue his work of mission for when we go home to Him; what a joy to hear from our Saviour “thy good and faithful servant”.
