One Dead, Four Hurt In Twin Road Mishaps In La Union

BAGUIO CITY (October 24, 2020) — One was killed while four others were hurt in two separate vehicular mishaps on October 23 and 24, 2020 in La Union. 
Friday afternoon (October 23), a motorcycle rider was declared dead on arrival at a hospital moments after his motorcycle collided with a vegetable delivery truck along Marcos Highway in Barangay Cares, Pugo, La Union. 
The victim was identified as glass technician Teddy Camillo, 36, single, from Barangay Palina, Pugo. 
The driver of the truck was identified as Joel Cervantes, 42, married, and a resident of Pico, La Trinidad, Benguet.
Pugo police said the motorcycle driven by the victim was Southbound while the truck was Northbound.  Investigation revealed that Camillo occupied the other lane and hit the right side of the truck. 
The victim sustained multiple injuries.  
Cervantes meanwhile is in police custody awaiting for possible negotiations with the family of the victim. 
Dawn Saturday, at least four were injured from the collision of three vehicles along the national highway in Barangay Sevilla, San Fernando City, also in La Union. 
The vehicles are a Toyota Tamaraw FX driven by Fedler Sacpa, 35, from Barangay Cambaly, Bagulin, La Union; a Ford Focus driven by Rodel Apigo, 35, of Barangay Bungro, also in Bagulo, and a Honda Accord driven by Rodelio Bravo, 40, of Barangay Lingsat, San Fernando City. 
According to San Fernando City police, the Honda Accord was heading North when it hit the FX van coming frim Pennsylvania Avenue.  After that, the Honda Accord again hit the Ford Focus cominf from the diversion road before ramming into an electric post. 
Investigation disclosed that the Honda Accord was speeding when it hit the FX van causing it to turn turtle. 
The passengers of the FX van were identified as Grace Gallardo, 59; Anita Sagada, 73; and Enrique Sagada, all residents of Cambaly, Bagulin, La Union.  The trio including Sacpa were rushed to the Ilocos Training And  Regional Medical  in San Fernando City. 
Sacpa tested positive of alcoholic breath.
