Over P28 million worth of agri products lost in Abra

BAGUIO CITY(July 31, 2021) – The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAG) of Abra recorded P28,425,449.10 worth of damages on the agriculture sector caused by the over a week monsoon rains.
The figure though is still partial as the data was collected from only eight of the 27 towns—  Lagayan, San Juan, La Paz, Lagangilang, San Quintin, Dolores, Bangued and Pidigan.
Around 2,628 farmers tilling a total land area of 2,159.94 in these towns were affected.
Partial damages to the corn produce reached P1,903,300.00. 111 corn planters were hit by the losses.
Meanwhile, a P1,780,900.00 worth of damages of live stocks were recorded. Most of the affected farm animals are carabao, cattle, chicken and hogs.
The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) listed P1,371,149.00 worth of damages from 13 towns of Abra like Bucay, Danglas, Lagayan, Langiden, La Paz, San Juan, San Isidro, Tayum, Tineg, Lagangilang, Pilar, Dolores  and Villaviciosa.
A total of P11,300.00 worth of fishing equipment and facilities were destroyed in the municipalities of Dolores and San Juan.
