Police Regional Office1 Launches Barangayanihan Help and Foodbank

CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO – Police Regional Office 1 joins the nationwide launching of Barangayanihan Help and Foodbanks with the 26th Chief of the Philippine National Police, POLICE GENERAL GUILLERMO LORENZO T ELEAZAR on a virtual ceremony this morning (May 14).
Barangayanihan (Bayanihan sa Barangay) is embedded in the PNP’s anticrime strategy, Community Oriented Policing System. It emphasizes the Filipino culture of bayanihan amid the pandemic.
During the ceremony, PRO1 Regional Director, POLICE BRIGADIER GENERAL EMMANUEL B PERALTA led the distribution of food packs to selected beneficiaries at the PRO1 Grandstand, Camp Florendo, Parian, City of San Fernando, La Union.
“In this trying time, no one should be left behind. Ang buong kapulisan ay magpapatuloy sa pagtulong sa ating mga kababayan. Hiling namin na mapanatili ang pagsunod sa ating health protocols at patuloy tayong magkaisa laban sa pandemya,” PBGEN PERALTA said.
Meanwhile, he expressed his profound gratitude to all PRO1 stakeholders and presented certificates of appreciation for their inviolable support to this initiative. To date, a total of 1,094 food banks were already established in Ilocos Region and a total of 2, 605 barangayanihan activities were conducted that helped 99,780 beneficiaries.
Barangayanihan in Region 1 is not only limited to the distribution of food packs. Recently, a total of 13 water supply systems were also turned over to selected beneficiaries in Ilocos Region.
This is in line with PBGEN PERALTA’s core project ‘Patubig ng Pulis’ which aims to generate a supply of potable water in communities where water is scarce.
PRO1 is endeavored to continue the legacy of bayanihan, remaining true to its mantra, “The Home of the Citizen-friendly Policeman and Protector of Human Rights”.
