STRAWBERRY CAKE

In Benguet, Philippines, women carry a special woven basket called KAYABANG on their backs, using a strap around their heads. Made of rattan, these sturdy baskets are perfect for hauling farm produce like root crops and fresh fruits. Mayor Romeo Salda explains that KAYABANG symbolizes the abundance strawberry produce of strawberry farmers. Recently, a staggering 240 kilos of strawberries were sold, all carried in these traditional baskets. Mayor Salda proudly announced that with sold-out tickets priced at P40 each(cupcakes), they expect to serve about 10,000 people who come to enjoy the local specialty, celebrating strawberries as the town’s One Town One Product (OTOP) highlight.
