Tingguian General Takes Over Highland Cordillera Police

BAGUIO CITY (March 16, 2019) — Chief Supt. Israel Ephraim Dickson, a Tingguian (Abra indigenous people) police general takes over the helm of the Cordillera police.

Vice Police Chief Supt. Rolando Nana, who retired from the uniformed service on Friday, Dickson, a member of Phil. Military Academy (PMA) class of 1987, was installed by Philippine National Police chief Dir. Gen. Oscar Albayalde via Director of the Directorate for Integrated Police Operations-Northern Luzon (DIPO-NL) Director Eric Serafin Reyes in turn-over rites Friday afternoon at the police regional headquarters here.

Dickson, being a native of San Juan town in Abra, vowed to remove the stigma and transform the northern province into peaceful and safe province especially during the May 13 polls.  He vowed that under his leadership, the Cordillera police regional office would continue and relentlessly support President Rodrigo Duterte’s war on illegal drugs.

The Tingguian police general also promised that “scalawags” will not be tolerated under his term and reminded all policemen and personnel to maintain transparency and accountability.

Abra rep. Joseph Sto Nino Bernos, who was present during the turn-over rites believed Dickson could make a difference especially in maintaining the already improved peace and order situation in Abra during the May elections.

Abra has not been included in the Comelec’s hotspot list.

 Governor Ma. Jocelyn Bernos also have high regards with the assumption of Dickson into the regional police’s helm saying, “every Abrenian is proud a provincemate, a Tingguian, is yet taking on a leadership task in the region’s continuing quest for peace, progress and development.”

Dickson, who came from the police general headquarters before his appointment to the Cordillera police, retires on March 2022.
