Yap: Health care facilities around the country get gov’t funding boost

La Trinidad, Benguet (January 12, 2022)—. Health care in the country are getting another big boost as funds for medical assistance for government hospitals and facilties are in the pipeline via the Department of Health (DOH).
Like the Benguet General Hospital (BeGH), which is set to receive P100 million for medical assistance,  other government hospitals are fortified further with government funding assistance, said Benguet lawmaker Eric Go Yap.
Benguet five district hospitals will be getting P5 million each as part of Rep. Yap’s tact on free hospitalization.
The Benguet lawmaker also said that he is currently working out the downloading of the funds to BeGH and Atok District Hospital, Kapangan District Hospital, Northern Benguet District Hospital, Itogon District Hospital and the Dennis Molintas Memorial Hospital.
As early as December, Yap has been working double time for the release of these funds to Benguer hoping to reach more indigent patients needing health care.  “We have more than sufficient allocation para sa healthcare and medical assistance program natin.
Nagpa-download tayo ng P100 million na pondo natin galing sa DOH para sa BeGH and P5 million each naman sa mga district hospitals to make sure na walang dapat bayaran ang mga pasyente natin,” the lawmaker said in Filipino.
The P100 million for BeGH and the P5 million for each district hospitals will be used to replenish the already depleted medical assistance fund in Benguet.
The medical assistance fund will help ease the burden of patients in paying their hospitals bills and cope with the current pandemic, Yap explained.   “Nasa pandemic pa tayo and maraming nawalan o humina talaga ang income.
Imagine having to pay for your medicines or hospital bills tapos problema pa yung pagkain sa bahay. Kaya we are making sure na hindi mawawalan ng pondo ang hospital pagdating sa medical assistance para makabawas sa problema ng mga may sakit,” he stressed.
Yap, who chairs the Appropriations Committee in Congress, said not only Benguet health care facilities in the country will receive funding for medical assistance.
“For the information of everyone, hindi lang sa BeGH and sa district hospitals ng Benguet tayo may pondong inilaan.   Meron din sa mga DOH Hospitals gaya ng Baguio General Hospital at mga specialty hospitals gaya ng Heart Center, National Kidney and Transplant Institute, at marami pa.   All they have to do is get in touch with our office and we will facilitate the payment of their bills,” he said.
