Van Plunges Into Benguet Ravine, One Dead, 11 Hurt

Tuba, Benguet (January 9, 2020)— A laborer died from multiple injuries while 11 others were hurt when the van they were riding plunged into a 30-meter ravine at sitio Nabjeng, Tabaan Norte, Tuba, Benguet Thursday morning.

Tuba Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRMMO) chief Jonathan Labutan said the Delica Van which came from sitio Toybongan, Norte, Tabaan Norte was bound to Pugo, La Union for the market day when it lost its brakes at around 730am and went wayward then towards the ravine.

Laborer Reynante Pig-ang Garcia, 41, from Pugo, La Union died on the spot, responders led by Labutan himself said.

Other victims who suffered various injuries were: Precy Bansulay Bangayan, 31;!Nilda Bansulay Labot, 44; Emily Miguel Pagnas, 45; Riza Miguel Pagnas, 3; Ana Dulagan Romero, 47; Ronalyn Pablo Bansulay, 18; Benita Pagnas Paran, 60; and Linda Labot Lamsis , 49. All are residents of Sitio Toybongan.

Other victims were identified as Marvin Bibcan Dictaran, 35, from Sitio Teyok, Tabaan Norte, van driver Joven Copero Ayban, 18, and Jimmuel Romero, 26, both from sitio Toybongan.
