Villager dies from Mountain Province landslide

BAGUIO CITY(July 28, 2022) – A villager died from fatal injuries when he was buried in a landslide in sitio Boga, barangay Monamon in Bauko, Mountain Province Thursday morning.
Andres Sagayo, 58, from Sitio Pactil, barangay Monamon Sur, also in that town and his family were holding wake for a dead close relative when a huge landslide occured near the wake burying him.
According to the Bauko Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, a rescue and retrieval operation immediately ensued but Sagayo was declared dead on arrival at the Lutheran Hospital in Abatan, Buguias, Benguet.
Meanwhile, clearing operations for boulders and land debris are ongoing at Mt. Data Cliff, Monamon Sur, Bauko, Mountain Province.
Authorities are advising the public especially the motorists to be extra cautious as there are still possible earth movements because of the strong earthquake that hit most parts of Luzon Wednesday morning.
